Double Amputee Scott Rigsby Visits Global Ride
Feb 3, 2009
Scott Rigsby, Ironman triathlete and double leg amputee, visited Pittsburgh-based video production company Global Ride’s local facility for the afternoon on Monday, February 2nd. The world record setter had a speaking engagement that morning at Carnegie Mellon University and followed the session with a trip to Hawaii, Global Ride style.
The Global Ride Spin studio boasted a full house for Rigsby’s visit. The group participated in two of the three DVDs from Global Ride’s Hawaii Series of virtual cycling videos, Oceanside Ride and StrenDurance. Rigsby told a few stories and let the group see how he handled the stationary bike using prosthetic legs.
“It was very inspiring to see,” said Global Ride spokesperson Jeff Saporito. “At one point, [Rigsby] said that if he could accomplish an Ironman with no legs, then anyone can.” The Hawaii Ironman competition is said to be one of the most physically demanding competitions in the world.
